STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with partners from Cyprus and Ukraine, we have launched a new project – the Youth Participation Project “You are not alone”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the project is to promote social issues such as domestic violence and women’s rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Violence loves silence, which is the reason why we rarely hear the horrific stories of what often happens behind the doors of apartments, right where people need to feel safe. Where there is psychological, emotional, and often physical violence, the victim is often convinced that he or she is “guilty” and does not report to the police or even tell relatives or friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victims of violence are often so depressed emotionally and psychologically that they lose both their strength and their belief that they can be out of danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such situations exist in virtually every European country. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation of domestic violence against women has been exacerbated by the long-term isolation of people and the common psychological strain. And often the slogan “Stay safe – stay home” is not true at all for women who do not have a safe place at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to statistics, almost 80% of victims of domestic homicide are women, and 75% of them are victims of their husbands or family partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young people from Latvia, Cyprus and Ukraine<\/strong> have come together to study the causes and consequences of this problem, and to try to find solutions to help victims of violence and to take preventive measures to prevent violence. prosperity among family partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project organizes regular events, invites experts – psychologists, police and crisis center staff, decision-makers, who both share their experiences and discuss possible methods and ways of helping with young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To find out what the problem is, project teams search, collect and analyze information on domestic violence in their countries and share their results with young people from other partner countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
