To gain a deeper understanding of this issue, Marta Centre conducted interviews with experts and victims in order to analyze domestic violence and methods to combat it. The findings from these interviews shed light on the extent of the problem and the challenges that victims face in seeking help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 30 November in the field of Youth Participation project \u201cYou are not alone\u201d in \u201cAlternative Reality\u201d happened interviews with experts and victims, analyzing domestic violence and methods to combat it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the experts interviewed by Marta Centre, domestic violence is a significant problem in Latvia. In fact, one expert stated that the country has one of the highest rates of domestic violence in Europe. Women are the most likely victims of domestic violence, with the majority of cases involving intimate partners. However, children and elderly individuals can also be victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interviews also revealed that victims of domestic violence face significant challenges in seeking help. One of the biggest barriers is fear &#8212; many victims are afraid of the consequences that may result if they report the abuse. For example, they may fear retaliation from the abuser or the loss of their children. Additionally, victims often struggle with feelings of shame and guilt, which can prevent them from seeking help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these challenges, there are initiatives in Latvia aimed at combatting domestic violence. For example, the government has established a national hotline for victims of domestic violence, which provides counselling and referral services. NGOs such as Marta Centre provide a wide range of services to victims, including legal support, counselling, and access to safe housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the interviews conducted by Marta Centre provide valuable insights into the issue of domestic violence in Latvia. These findings highlight the urgent need for continued efforts to combat domestic violence and provide support to victims.
