Culture Association “Alternate Reality” runs Solidarity project “Discussion Club “xeNOphobia” about Xenophobia and Discrimination issues.

Project Ref. 2019-1-LV02-ESC31-002476
Place: Riga, Riga region, Ventspils
Project period:
01.05.2019. – 31.10.2019.
Project Goal:
- Promote the eradication of stereotypes of intolerance and discrimination in society by educating and informing the public, promoting European values, reducing xenophobia and discrimination.
This project will help to establish a reasoned dialogue between xenophobic supporters and those who are trying to cope with this phenomenon. It will bring together a number of views, looking at it from a European perspective and showing why xenophobia is no longer acceptable in the 21st century.
The future of the project – a group of volunteers that will continue to work on xenophobia.
The discussion club project will benefit from several areas at once:
- Self-development and motivation for participants to become socio-active and responsible citizens. Because when we talk about societal problems, we are not just talking about them, but also looking for a solution.
2 Training benefit. Discussions will attract public attention (through publications and discussions on club actions) to the xenophobic problem that will allow several people to think about a tolerant form of thinking.
3 Changing public opinion. Multiple xenophobic ideas in our society can only be overcome if society changes its views on them. The discussion club, through discussion, discussion and search for a solution, will be able to begin to change the opinion of its target audience, and will change public opinion in general.
4 The discussion club will not only be a place for talks and Internet resources. We are planning a discussion as a result of the club meeting will also launch other initiatives and other projects that will help overcome xenophobia in our society (uneven club members will be able to launch actions, performances and other social activities that will improve the situation on xenophobia).
