Circus? Yes, Circus! “Juggling Diversity Youth Exchange”

In partnership with amazing organizations from 8 different countries and fueled by the innovative ideas of our youth, we are excited to launch a youth exchange dedicated to mastering the skills of social circus.

You might wonder, what exactly is a social circus? It’s not your traditional circus, but rather a unique opportunity to learn various circus techniques that not only enhance coordination and communication but also contribute to physical health improvement. More importantly, it fosters socialization, the art of being together, and the art of unity.

How can juggling or learning acrobatic tricks achieve this? By trusting your partner, learning to work in a team, focusing on tasks, acknowledging and correcting mistakes, and sharing the learned experiences. And this is just the beginning of the endless possibilities.

During the youth exchange, participants will have the chance to learn flow arts (poi), juggling, acrobalance basics, diabolo, unicycling, stilt walking, fire performance techniques, and much more from the realm of circus techniques. Plus, you’ll make new friends and find like-minded people from Hungary, Poland, Norway, North Macedonia, Cyprus, Serbia, Germany, and of course, Latvia.

Youngsters aged 16 to 25 eager to embrace new challenges, interested in acquiring social circus and street performance skills, are welcome to join this project—regardless of nationality, social or economic status, cultural differences, or health conditions. No prior knowledge is required; this project is designed for beginners! What matters most is your motivation and desire to learn and improve your skills. Moreover, using English in the project will quickly enhance your language proficiency, making conversations with new international friends easier!

We plan to conduct this youth exchange in Vecružina, near Tiskādes Lake, in the beautiful region of Latgale. Close to the project’s accommodation is Tiskādes children’s home, housing adolescents and youngsters aged 13 to 18, who are also warmly invited to attend the training sessions and workshops, as well as other project sessions dedicated to European values and active youth participation in social life.

This project builds upon the results of the previous training course “Circus Pedagogy for Youthwork,” with some partners participating again to share their experiences with new participants.
