Present Pulse: A life in a moment
We packed our bags and headed to Pano Arodes, Cyprus, a place where time slows down and nature embraces you. From April 5 to 11, 2024, we were part of something special, something that would change us all – the Erasmus+ project “Present Pulse.” This wasn’t just another training course; it was a explore of self-discovery and mental well-being.

Our group of 40 youth workers from Latvia, Cyprus, Norway, Poland, and Hungary came together with one mission – to find balance and bring that harmony back to our communities. We started each day with mindfulness workshops, learning to breathe deeply, to center ourselves, and to let go of stress. Experienced trainers guided us through these practices, helping us find our own inner peace.
Outdoors, the landscape of Pano Arodes became our classroom. We hiked through lush greenery, shared reflections under the shade of ancient trees, and felt the grounding power of nature. These walks weren’t just exercise; they were moments of clarity and connection.
We dove into the digital world, exploring tools and platforms to create mental health resources. It was eye-opening to see how technology could be a bridge to reach more young people, providing support in ways we hadn’t imagined before.
Peer support sessions were the heart of our project. We sat in circles, shared our stories, our struggles, and our victories. There was laughter, there were tears, but most importantly, there was understanding. We built a network of support that would extend far beyond Cyprus.
One of the most touching experiences was our visit to an animal shelter in Paphos. We spent a day interacting with animals, feeling the pure, unconditional love they offered. It was therapy in its purest form. Petting a dog, playing with a kitten, feeding a donkey – these simple acts reminded us of the power of connection and how it can heal.
Each of us created a personalized mental health action plan. These weren’t just pieces of paper; they were promises to ourselves. We committed to taking concrete steps to improve our own well-being and to support the youth we work with. Sharing these plans with the group was empowering; it felt like we were all taking a collective step forward.
Diana from Latvia shared, “Participating in ‘Present Pulse’ has been a game-changer for me. The mindfulness practices and peer support sessions have given me new tools to manage stress and support the youth I work with. I feel more connected and empowered than ever.”
Jorgen from Norway added, “The outdoor activities in Pano Arodes were not only refreshing but also deeply grounding. I’ve learned to appreciate the importance of nature in mental health, and I can’t wait to bring these insights back to my community.”
Veronika from Poland was thrilled about the digital training, “The digital tool training was incredibly valuable. I now have the skills to create engaging mental health resources online, making it easier to support young people in my community.”

The “Present Pulse” experience didn’t end when we left Cyprus. We returned home with new skills, new perspectives, and a renewed sense of purpose. We were ready to make a difference, to support our communities, and to spread the message of mental well-being.
This experience was more than just a project; it was a transformation. We learned that taking care of ourselves is the first step in taking care of others. We found strength in each other and in the beautiful, tranquil surroundings of Pano Arodes.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey. Your dedication and enthusiasm have created a lasting legacy of well-being and resilience. Together, we are building a brighter, healthier future for all.
Join us on this path. Let’s make the world a better place, one breath at a time.
